The Role:
The purpose of this role is to be that ‘right support’ – the bridge between the needs of new employee and the needs of the workplace. You will be responsible for inducting the new employee with learning disabilities/autism into their new role and providing training and support in the role which builds the new employee’s confidence and independence to make it a success.
To do this you need to be a good communicator who is able to make the person you are supporting and the individual’s line manager and co-workers feel safe and supported.
You must be passionate about the vision of pursuing paid employment for people with learning disabilities and autism and you need to be friendly, supportive and have a positive ‘can do’ attitude. The role also requires flexibility and good at problem solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
– Participant Support: Individualised support to understand and master role; Implement workplace adaptations; Training.
– Employer Support: Training; Support making reasonable adjustments
– Monitoring: Monitor progress; Address challenges; Maintain records; Manage Access to Work funding.
– Collaboration: Communicate with Employer, co-workers, families, partner organisations to solve issues that arise.
