Sessional Job Coach – Self Employed

Salary: £20 per hour
Hours: Zero hours contract. Flexible work to support the hours of job roles secured
Location: London and Hertfordshire

About the Role:
EmployAble’s vision is to create a world where every person with a learning disability or autism who wants to work, can work, if given the right support. The purpose of this role is to be that ‘right support’ – the bridge between the needs of new employee and the needs of the workplace. You will be responsible for inducting the new employee with learning disabilities/autism into their new role and providing training and support in the role which builds the new employee’s confidence and independence to make it a success.

What will you be doing:
In-Work Job Coaching

  • Provide on-site job coaching during induction and throughout the learning period.
  • Be able to break down job requirements into bitesize tasks.
  • Support individuals to learn tasks safely, accurately and efficiently.
  • Develop workplace routines, prompt cards and visual supports where appropriate.
  • Support integration of new employee into the team.
  • Gradually reduce support as the individual gains confidence and independence.

Employer Support

  • Act as the main point of contact for employers.
  • Arrange access to EmployAble’s generic Disability Awareness training.
  • Provide specific information about the needs of the new employee (with their consent);

Monitoring and Review

  • Monitor progress against agreed employment goals.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and records.
  • Address challenges or concerns, and mediate as soon as they arise.
  • Participate in reviews with individuals, employers and partner agencies.

Collaboration

  • Communicate effectively with employee, co-workers, family members/partner organisation and working with them to problem solve issues that may arise.

Safeguarding and Compliance

  • Work in accordance with safeguarding policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR requirements.
  • Follow health and safety procedures in all workplaces.
  • Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
  • You will need to be work flexibly to support the hours of job roles secured. Your role is likely to include travelling to various locations.

About You:

  • Educated to GCSE level with a grade A-C in Maths & English;
  • Passionate about supporting people with learning disabilities and autism into paid employment.
  • Ideally you have some experience working or interacting with autistic people and people with learning disabilities, but this is not essential.
  • Outgoing, positive and naturally empathetic personality, a clear and straightforward communication style and good time management and organisational skills.
